Fethiye is one of the 13 districts of Muğla province and the administrative center of the city. The old name of the city is Meğri. It is thought that this name derives from the Greek name Makri, which means "far away land". It is especially developed in terms of tourism. Its population in 2022 is 177,702. It is the largest district of Muğla. It was the district with the largest surface area in the province until 2013, when Seydikemer, which was connected to here, became a district. In terms of population density, it is larger than Muğla center and other districts.
