Located in the center of Trabzon bazaar, it is the oldest commercial building of the city. It has a rectangular plan close to the castle, with external dimensions of 20.60 x 22.60 m. It is the only example among Turkish Bedestens with a single dome. Additionally, the building is listed among the Gülbaharhatun Foundations. For this reason, we can say that the building was built at the end of the 15th century, after the conquest.
He writes that the building was first mentioned in the soup kitchen list written by Sultan Selim's mother, Gülbahar Hatun, in 1512. Information about Trabzon Bedesten was mentioned for the first time. Therefore, it indicates that the building would have been built between 1461-1512.
Trabzon Bedesten reveals a great architectural feast. Bedesten, which consists of regular 28 cm stones, has a square plan. Additionally, it was placed on 4 elephant legs, providing architectural aesthetics. The eye-catching holes on the elephant's feet contain the irons between the layers. The wooden part is placed on these holes. The bazaar, which has doors everywhere, consists of 48 rooms. While the rooms on the upper floor represent the modern-day offices of merchants, the rooms below represent the point where goods buying and selling takes place.
